Potato Flake Sourdough Bread Loaf Starter

Starter:

Ingredients needed:

1 package active dry yeast

3 Tablespoons of potato flakes (plain, no flavors added- original Hungry Jack or equivalent)

½ cup sugar

1 cup warm water

Mix well with a wooden spoon in a glass jar or bowl. Do not seal jar.

Cover loosely and let it ferment on countertop for 4 days. Stir daily with a wooden spoon.

On the 5th day, feed the starter with:

½ cup sugar

3 Tablespoons of potato flakes

1 cup warm water.

Mix all together in a 2 cup measuring cup or bowl. add to the original starter. Mix with wooden spoon until incorporated.

Allow to sit on counter for 8 hours. Mix and pour out one cup for your bread recipe.

Cover and store remaining amount in the refrigerator.
